The aircraft went down 35 miles SW of Grants, New Mexico. Fog, snow and thunderstorms were reported in the area. The plane hit the ground a a 45 degree angle and disintegrated and burned. Film director, producer Mike Todd, 49, husband of Elizabeth Taylor, killed. Elizabeth Taylor, who had planned to go on the trip with her husband, remained at home, ill with bronchitis. The plane was named "The Lucky Liz." Icing.
