The takeoff from Santos Dumont airport was aborted after a loss of power occurred before the V1 speed was reached. Due to poor braking action, emergency brakes were applied. The pilot-in-command retracted the landing gear after it was apparent an overrun was imminent. The aircraft slid into Guanabara Bay.
